On 12^th February 2010, LEO Club of High School Batu Pahat donated an amount of RM360 to Persatuan Kristian Shuang Fu. This donation was suggested by Lions Club of Batu Pahat. The money was passed to one of the Lions to help us. An receipt of the donation will be sent to us soon. LEO Ernest Hoe told every Leos that RM360 may mean a little to us, or but for those in need, this is their expenditure for 1 year. They survive, because of this RM360, which may mean nothing to somebody, but it bring a whole new world for somebody, too. This donation will last for 1 year. RM30 per month.

School service project

Most of the form4 director were involved in this activity. They reached school at around 7.00a.m., with their club t-shirt on. Head of Prefects, Syuqry Bin Sheikh Ismail instructed them and divided their works. Some of them swept the floor inside the room while some of them were asked to scratch the old painting of the wall which had already worn out.

After finish scratching the wall off, they started to paint.Mopping the floor was the next thing to do. After mopping the floor, they helped to clean the surrounding of the Prefects’ Room.Head of Prefects gave a lot of compliment for our Leos’ working attitude, and he gave them a lot of motivation too. He hope that we could apply this three theory when we are on duty at anytime, as a reminder from him.

All those involved in this activity gathered at LEO Garden right after school.O.C. LEO Tan Shi Hao distributed the works as what we usually do.They put the rubbish into a dustbin and then took the dustbin to be emptied together.They also plugged the weeds, and killed some of the red ants around the “LEO Garden” signboard. After getting the job done, they went back happily as this activity was carried out by them successfully

Chinese New Year Celebration at School

On 12 of February, Leo Club and Interact Club of High School Batu Pahat had celebrate Chinese New Year with the student and teachers. The celebration start with the welcoming Lions Dance.

Later, we had invited Lions Dance from KUN SENG KENG LION AND DRAGON DANCE ASSOCIATION that sponsor by 2000 Entertainment .

Then, we continue with the Acrobatic Show sponsor by 2000 Entertainment.

We end the celebration with singing of chinese new year song and we also giving oranges to all the student and teachers.

Fifth Recycling Activity with Tzu-Chi

At 8.00a.m., all of us reached there and the volunteers of Tzu-Chi Association had not reach yet. So, we started to collect the items from others(Some came to give their used daily items to be recycled) without the supervision of the Tzu Chi Volunteers. At around 8.30a.m., some of the volunteers reached and they brought along some plastic bags to put the recycled product. We learnt how to categorize the items into many types including, metal, white metal, plastics, plastic bags, electrical appliances, papers, and more. The Perdana Station received very much contributions from the citizens there. At the end of the activity, we have collected Aluminium(14kg),Plastics(343kg),Iron(193kg), clothe(583kg) and also glass of 141kg. In this acitivity, we were not only helping those in need by committing in the recycling project, we also got to learn about the moral values. The effort was worthwhile.

Youth Exchange Program

Leo Lau Jian Hui, our outgoing club secretary , had been qualified to go Japan via the Youth Exchange Programme, together with 19 other YE-s from District 308-B1.The Youth Exchange Group of 308 B1 is led by Tey Kwang Hawe from Segamat. On 15^th December 2009, Leo Lau Jian Hui departed from KLIA to KANSAI International Airport, Japan. He will be there for 22 days and will be back on 6^th January 2010. Upon reaching Japan, he will be welcomed by two host families, both from Osaka. The two host families are Lions, Miss Fumiko Iwata and Miss Yuki Kitahama. In Japan, he will be joining a camp organized in Kobe.

The annual Leo Youth Essential Skills Camp was held on 17^th-20^th December 2009. The Leo Club of High School Batu Pahat sent 3 directors to the camp including club president and secretary. For them, YES Camp is the best camp that they ever participated in. They learnt many things in this camp, especially the 12 keys. They say that they are flexible enough to apply the 12 keys to “different locks” to get any problem faced solved. They were having much fun in the camp, like flying fox and playing insanely in the water. The activities planned had enabled them to enthuse themselves in teamwork and team spirit. And this is what they said to every leo members after coming back from Y.E.S.. They knew numerous number of friends too. From acquaintances became friends and at the last day, they cried, because they had to be apart with their BUDDYs.

Helping Tzu-Chi in Charity Sales

All those involved in this activity gathered around 7.00a.m. at Hall of SJK©Cheng Siu.(Breakfast offered)At 7.15a.m., they started to help arranging the stalls and the chairs.The bazaar was then started at 8.00a.m..Some of them were asked to lead people to go to the stalls that they wanted to go.Some of them were asked to help in some stalls.There wasn’t too much people went for this charity bazaar.It was tiring as they had to walk around for the whole day, but they felt satisfied with their performance and their passion shown.After being offered the free lunch at around 12.30p.m., they helped arranging the tables and chairs.They went home at 1.00 p.m, they felt great as they were actually helping those in need at the same time.

Christmas celebration with PPIA

We, Leo Club of High School Batu Pahat, had been offered four slots for this Christmas Celebration. Those who were going gathered at the downstairs of PPIA Job Training Centre at 6.00p.m. Then , they went up and helped in the preparation of the celebration, like arranging tables and chairs. At 7.00 sharp, the celebration started. They started the event with the slideshow on the activities throughout the years and their achievements. After that, they started distributing some awards to the children who performed outstandingly throughout the year. The dinner started after that. At around, 8.00p.m, the performances started. Soh Shi Hao walked around and performed his magic card tricks to amaze the children there. All of them were wondering about, at the same time they were entertained and they enjoyed watching the magicshow. After the singing of “Merry Christmas” song, they shook each other’s hands and went back at around 9.00p.m. They felt happy to be invited to this celebration as they enjoyed a lot too.

Visiting Orphan House At JB with SMKDSE leos

“Rhythm Music Studio” joined us in this activity. At 7.00a.m., all of the Leos and the members of Rhythm Music Studio waited the chartered bus at the side door of SMKDSE. We then departed to Johor Bahru, headed to FGC Life-Link Community Care Centre. Once upon reaching , the person-in-charge thanked us again and again for having to perform as well as entertain the orphans there. We went into the orphanage and started playing around with the children before the performance started. The first performance was Magicshow by Leo Dick Lee Wei Hao, Leo Soh Shi Hao and Leo Pnwee Jun Wee. The orphans were amazed by the performances. The cards disappeared and reappeared makes them screaming. Then, the second performance was the Music Performance by Rhythm Music Studio. They clapped and screamed when they were listening to the music. After the impressive performances, they came and thanked all Leos. We then bought some souvenirs from the centre, which were all made by the orphan there using some recycled items. We went home happily as the performances went smoothly although it was Dick Lee,Shi Hao and Jun Wee’s first magic performances to so many people.

All those involved in this activity gathered around 7.15a.m. at the car park of Hutan Lipur.At 7.30a.m., the PPIA children reached, they helped them to get down to the platform of the Hutan Lipur, where many people do exercise.They went up to the Hutan Lipur together with the children of PPIA.2 of them were holding plastic bags and picking up the rubbish along the way to the top while other were assisting and helping the PPIA children to get up to the top.When they reached the top of the Hutan Lipur, they took pictures before coming down.After them having simple breakfast at the “pondok” at the top of the Hutan Lipur, they came down from the Hutan Lipur.Before going back, the person-in-charge of PPIA thanked everyone who attended the activity. They went home at 9.30 with fatigued bodies but they were happy with themselves for helping.

LIFE Camp 1st Joint Motivational Camp Of Leo Club And Interact Club Of High School Batu Pahat

As the organizing committees, we felt very grad that this camp was a great success. We do admit that organizing a camp wasn’t easy, but we have made it, with the great teamwork and commitment shown by all the committees in finding people to join the camp.LIFE Camp stands for “(L)eo (I)nteract (F)ellowship (E)xperience Camp”, this motivational camp goes with a theme “Today’s Camper, Tomorrow’s leader” which clearly showed that we should train to be a good leader and try to learn something new and useful in this camp that we can apply in the way to be a good leader. The campers were divided into 9 groups (Muraamu, Jaburu, Drake, Mogo-mogo, Saboga, Manihiki, Puka-puka, Parotanga and Aitutaki). Some exciting activities like flying fox and the obstacles tested the campers’ ability, confidence, persistence, intelligence, leadership and also the teamwork. We had our 2^nd Vice District Governor, Lion Dr.Ben C. Ng to conduct our opening ceremony and give us an influencive yet amazing talk , about “Leadership”. We learnt many things from the camp, from leadership to fellowship, from teamwork to self-confidence, from ability and capability and everything. No matter committees or campers, we shared the same experience together. Many of the campers and committees cried at the closing ceremony. We do treat this camp as an unique experience for all of us, we could learn from the mistake made in the organization of the camp and the importance of punctuality. LIFE Camp rocks.

All those involved in this activity gathered right after the meeting at 3 Cendana for a briefing from Ms Loh, who is also our faculty advisor.Some of us were asked to sweep the floor and also to wipe the windows.We placed the extra desks and chairs in another class which was not going to be used in SPM Examination.After that, we were commended by Ms Loh.As a English teacher, Ms Loh never fails to ask us to speak in English, she teaches us all the time and corrects our mistakes too.After one hour of hardwork, we went home at 2.30 o’clock. All of us were extremely delighted just by seeing the cleanliness of the classrooms which signify our hardwork.

Peace Poster (ZONE)

The Lions Club of Batu Pahat had organized the Peace Poster Colouring Contest. On Sunday morning, 25^th October 2009, the Leo gathered at The Summit at morning 9 o’clock. Some helped with the leading of the contestant to the place where contest held whereas some helped at the registration. When the competition started, the Leos helped distributed the art work for the participants to show their artistic talents. Leo Dick Lee Wei Hao had become the emcee for that activity, he was the one who read the rules of the competition aloud and the one who told the parents not to trying telling their children what to do. The children all showed their talents as their masterpiece is totally incredible. After the winners have been chosen, we carried out the prize giving ceremony. Trophies were given to all who participated and additional prizes were given to the winners. The day’s event was a colourful one because all the efforts the participants put in were shown through their work. After the prize giving ceremony, the Leos helped clear the site and rearranged the chair. We were all glad that the competition was a successful one.

Those who were involved in this activity gathered at the stage at around 9.30 a.m.A briefing was given by O.C. Leo Dick Lee Wei Hao on what they have to do.This activity were helped by the Sing Kong Optical Shop, they provide the instrument for the eye checkup which we learnt how to use under the guidance of the person-in-charge.Those who attended the eye checkup were tested with the differentiation of colour and also the sightedness test.We took turns to have our lunch at 12.00p.m.Everyone who ever attend the eye checkup will be given a coupon which worth RM50 (Available only in SingKong Optical Shop, Summit Parade Batu Pahat).At around 4.00 o’clock, we went back with fatigued souls and bodies.

Collecting Donation for Sumatera Earthquake

The fund-raising activity was organized by Lions Club of Batu Pahat. Those who are involved in this activity gathered at the stage of Summit Parade Batu Pahat at 10.00p.m. on 11, 12, 16, 17 morning.After the briefing from Leo Ernest Hoe, we started to do what we were asked to do. Basically, we sat there and walked to collect donation from the passers-by. We took turns to be on duty. Some of us went there at the morning, while some of us went there in the afternoon or evening. It depended on our own time.Every night, we collected the donation and counted the amount collected with lions. At the end of the activity, we got a total of RM10000 approximately donation four the four days of hardwork. We felt happy as we had gotten a lot of compliment from lions of our successful work and effort. On 18 October, the money collected was passed to the person-in-charge of the World Vision of Malaysia by our ADUN Kawasan Penggaram, Mr.Koh Chee Chai. After the activity ended, we were given free dinner at MK Restaurant by the sponsorship from the person-in-charge of Summit Parade Batu Pahat.

All those involved in this activity gathered at 5 Cendana for a briefing from Ernest Hoe and Cikgu Vijaya.PMR examination were just two days about to come.Some of us were asked to arrange the desks and chairs in every class room of that floor, whereas some of us were asked to paste some mahjong paper at the information board behind the classroom to prevent copying.We placed the extra desks and chairs in another class which was not going to be used in PMR Examination.After that, we were commended by Cikgu Vijaya and Cikgu Hasikin.As a token of appreciation, they bought us some snacks and drink to overcome the exhaustion.After two hours of hardwork and 5 minutes of eating, we went home at 4 o’clock. All of us were extremely delighted just by seeing the arrangement of the desks and chairs which signify our hardwork.

Key officers are involved in this activity because the exam is coming soon and many of the Leos cannot attend the activity especially form 3 Leos.Key officers who involved in this activity went to the PPIA by walking together after the meeting ended.We headed to a stationery shop to buy the tools and materials to be used.After that, O.C. Chua Yie Kwuan greeted the person-in-charge and started the activity.We all then taught the children on how to make the lanterns.Then,all of them felt very happy as they had just gotten themselves a self-made lantern.Before going back, they have offered us some mooncakes.After cleaning the mess, we went home happily with a satisfied mind at 5.

First Recycling Activity with Tzu-Chi

This acitivity was attended by most of our key officers because we were determined to get along with the situation before letting our B.O.D. and members to help out in this recycling activity. We want them to come and help out seriously instead of not knowing what to be done and standing there aimlessly. Therefore we are going to enable them to join this activity in the month of October and so on after getting along this situation. The recycling project was actually held in the whole Batu Pahat but we are just in the Station of Taman Bukit Perdana. At 8.00a.m., two of us were asked to help out in Taman Batu Pahat where lacked of people to help out with the transportation from Tzu-Chi Volunteer. At the same times, the rest of them were helping out at the Perdana Station. We learnt how to categorize the items into many types including, metal, white metal, plastics, plastic bags, electrical appliances, papers, and more. The Perdana Station received very much contributions from the citizens there. However, the Taman Batu Pahat Station received a total of 3-tons of clothes approximately. The person-in-charge of Tzu-Chi Association showed his gratitude to us and taught us about the virtues and some regulations of being polite to others. We were all fascinated about the new thing learnt. In this acitivity, we were not only helping those in need by committing in the recycling project, we also got to learn about the moral values. The effort was worthwhile.

Lion Charity Bazaar

The Lion Charity Bazaar was organized by Lions Club of Batu Pahat to raise fund for the charity usage. Whole B.O.D. of Leo Club of High School Batu Pahat except for Form 3 directors were involved in this grand event. Those who were involved in this activity gathered outside of the guarded entrance door at 9.00a.m. with club t-shirts and vest brought. After the briefing from Leo Lo Khai Yi, we started to go to our respective stalls to sell goods(Most of the goods was donated by others). Following the instructions given by Leo Lo Khai Yi, we could change our stalls with others to prevent boreness. The stalls or stations there included food stall, snacks-selling stall, accessories stall, stationery stall, beg stall, shoes stall, clothe stall, daily necessaries stall, books stall, balloon stall, souvenirs stall, cotton stall, VCD/DVD selling Stall and the most visited side, the game station. All consumption was traded using the coupon bought, which cost RM 10 for each. All Leo were required to talk courteously to everyone and to be well-behaved. Some of the Leos were distributing flyers in the Summit Parade, whereas others were selling tickets and also selling items at stalls. Leos were not being encouraged to stay there for the whole day as they would just be exhausted for overtiring themselves. Therefore, throughout the 4 days, Leos were carrying out their duty by turns. They helped enthusiastically in the activity. Lions were very happy with our performance as all of us had behaved very well in the 4 days of helping. All of us know that this activity was tiring but the feeling of helping others was always served as a medicine for us, that made us to be energized again.

After 4 days of hard working, the incoming directors said that they hardly have time for such a great activity and they really appreciated it and also said that they do not regret in joining this club. Ernest Hoe, club President, sent a message to all of us as he was very satisfied with the performance of all of us throughout the activity and he wished that we could show such commitment in the coming month activity.

Lions Road Safety Campaign

The Road Safety Campaign was organized by Lions Club of Batu Pahat, Polis Diraja Malaysia and The Summit Batu Pahat. Those who are involved in this activity gathered at the stage of Summit Parade Batu Pahat at 12.00p.m. .After the briefing from Leo Ernest Hoe, we started to pack the things that yet to be distributed to the road-users later. Following the instructions given by Leo Ernest Hoe, we arranged the plastic bags in rows on the floor to make it easier to put in the stickers, hand-outs and also some snacks. After 1 hour of hard work, all of the plastic bags were packed. We then had a rest while at the same time, Lion Juliet Kek treated all of us a simple lunch with some wafers and biscuits. Around 2.30 p.m., some officers from PDRM arrived and they gave a talk on the road safety and the safety features of vehicles. Soon after the talk, YDH ACP Ibrahim Bin Mohd Aris, who is the Chief Police of Batu Pahat, arrived. Y.B. Koh Chee Chai, who is ADUN of Penggaram Area, arrived right after the arrival of Chief Police Batu Pahat. After the speeches finished being delivered, the opening ceremony was conducted by Y.B. Koh Chee Chai. At the same time, we Leos were standing and witnessing the grand opening ceremony. We gave our seats to the Police Cadet from Parit Sulong. After the opening ceremony, the performances started, the performances were fascinating and we were enjoying watching. The distribution of Certificates and Souvenirs was carried out after Lions L.Vin Soo giving out the packages of daily necessities for 20 poor families. Lastly, all of the committees went out of the Summit Parade, with many plastic bags in hand, and distributed them to the road-users who passed by the road at the time. We went back the stage of Summit Parade after giving out those packed plastic bags to clean the surrounding of the stage. After the activity ended, we were asked to stay back to have a complimentary dinner with those poor families and the police cadet at MK Restaurant in Summit Parade. This dinner was fully sponsored by the person-in-charge of Summit Parade Batu Pahat. Our service didn’t end yet at the time, we went back to the stage to carry the chairs to the MK Restaurant as the chairs provided weren’t enough for us. Around 7.10 p.m. , all of us started to eat together, and we had had a lot of fun and chatting in the restaurant. After dinner, we went home with a exhausted body yet, an energized, satisfied mind.

Leo Ernest Hoe voluntarily told Ms Loh Yet Kiaw, our faculty advisor that we could help out in watering the plants in the school while the gardeners are not free.All those involved in the cleaning of Leo Garden straight away proceeded to the inner part of the school and started to water the plant there.They tried to find the watering tools around the school as without the guidance of gardener, they could hardly find where is the tools being placed.They found a long pipe too, they used it to water the plant around the pond.After finished watering the plant there, they went to the botanical garden to water the plant there as well.They then put back the tools taken to the original place before going home.

Every week , we will help our school to water all the school plant.

Leo Lee Chee Yong started distributing the work for all.Some of them plucked weeds and dried grass while others put fertilizer on the plants.Harden soil was removed.The rubbish around the LEO garden is removed and is thrown into the dustbin.Then, the plants and flower were watered.After an hour of hard work, the Leo Garden looked beautiful and clean.

All those involved in this activity were actually those who went to the monthly recycling project with Tzu-Chi Association.This activity doesn’t need too much people and only a few were involved.After being fetched by Lion Juliet Kek, we reached Shi Hao’s house and planned about how to packDecision was made and we started to pack enthusiastically.We were recalling back the tough time when we were having PMR Examination when packing the things.After approximately 1 hour of teamwork, we finished packing and we left the thing in Shi Hao’s house to be brought to school on the next day.Ernest Hoe thanked all of us for helping him and assisting him so well as the club is functioning smoothly so far.

Key officers are involved in this activity because this minor activity did not need too much people.Once the assembly started, key officers who involved in this activity were asked to assemble at a place.Then, Ms.Loh Yet Kiaw gave them instructions on what they were going to do later.After the singing of National Anthem, the Moral Talk started.They distributed the hand-outs to all of the students (non-muslims), the hand-outs were printed with some short stories which could convey the message of the moral values.Ms.Loh asked some questions related to the short stories and small gifts were given to those who answered the questions correctly.The Moral Talk ended with a round of applause from the students.

Free Hair Cut for PPIA

We gathered at the shop just downstairs of the PPIA Job Training Centre with our teacher advisor, Ms Loh Yet Kiaw.We waited the barbers who are willing to give the PPIA Resident free hair cut.After the barbers reached there, we went upstairs to carry out our activity.Ernest Hoe, as the O.C. of this activity, greeted with the people-in-charge of PPIA Job Training Centre and requested the permission to start the activity.We started the activity by arranging the desks and chairs in an order manner to enable the activity carried out smoothly.The barbers took out their tools while we were arranging the chairs for them.After the arrangement of chairs, they started cutting their hair.We, Leos, were asked to help them in unpacking the “pokok wangi” and categorizing the “pokok wangi”.After the hair cut, we then helped to sweep the floor as there are hairs on it.The PPIA resident prepared us a lunch and we enjoyed it very much after the hard work.The activity ended successfully at 4.30p.m. , all member were allowed to go home.Before going home, all of our committee showed our gratitude to the barbers as they volunteered to give free cut and it enabled us to make this activity a success one.

All those involved in the decorating the Leo information board gathered at the board at 2.00p.m..When all were present, the O.C, Tan Hui Shan briefly described what they have to do and all started their own work.Zong Yan had pasted some black colour paper as background. Irene Tan did patterns and nice design as borders for the information board.They also pinned up all the information needed for the board. The board of directors had been changed with a new one as well.Later on, they wiped clean the glass window covering the information board.
The work was literally completed at around 3.00p.m..

Decorating Information Board with Patriotism Corner

All those involved in the decorating the Leo information board gathered at the Leo Garden at 7.45a.m. before proceeding to our Leo Club Information Board.When all were present, the O.C, Soh Shi Hao briefly described what they have to do and all started their own work.The elements which they were asked to find were pasted on the board with everyone’s effort.They thought on how to beautify the Patriotism Corner. They had a nice teamwork when they were decorating the board and had a chat about our installation events.Ernest Hoe, the club president, also gave the form 3 directors, Lee Wei Yang and Tey Kak Lok on tips of getting good results, motivated them with some slogans and wished them good luck.After 2 hours of hard work, the information board was now decorated with a patriotism corner.Theme of the 52^nd Independence Day, “1 Malaysia” suits our installation theme well too. Having hope among ourselves, for sure it will leads to a united community and result in a peaceful world for all.

8th Joint Installation for Leo Clubs of HSBP, SMKDSE and CHS

The organizing committees, we were all grad that the 8^th Joint Installation of Leo Clubs of Batu Pahat was totally a great success, a delighting event for all of us. The preparations, rehearsals and meetings held regarding the Installation were not at all a waste although it was a bit tiring but every hardship was worthwhile as the event was a success. Nevertheless we were able to sustain a harmonious relationship in order to successfully hold out the ceremony, we avoided dispute among ourselves although there were much times that we met with different decisions. Embracing “Peace, Hope & Unity” served to remind ourselves that we have to go through these obstacles before making this installation a success one. The rehearsals were not so perfect and everything seemed like we were lacking of rehearsing. Questions and queries were headed to Lion Dr Ben where all good answers were given to correctly hold out the ceremony. We also received feedbacks-good ones from Lions and outstation Leos as well as our own teacher advisor that the Installation was a success. There was no occurrence of serious issues during the Installation. Lion Dr.Ben also gave us compliments that had delighted us as he said that he was happy because the installation is carried out according to the standard installation procedures, the improvement had also made him feel proud of us. Donations were all given to a patient who suffered from various diseases. Plus, the performances were all very over-whelming and the audience was astonished and stunned by the great shows performed. There was an unique performance which was STOMP, performed by the directors of Leo Clubs of Batu Pahat, they sacrificed much time to learn it. Not forgetting the performance which received most compliment - sketch did cost us much time in practicing to approach perfection. Besides, we were happy that all Organizing Committee were able to work together to carry out the Installation Ceremony smoothly and perfectly although our installation held right after the PMR trial exam, we first thought that we would be running out of time. After the ceremony, the Organizing Chairman showed gratitude and appreciation to Organizing Committee where all their hard work and perspiration were paid off and made the Installation a success. The theme “Peace, Hope & Unity…The Mysterious Strengths” was also supported and agreed by most of the people, including the Immediate Past International Lions Club President, Lion Albert F.Brandel and the President of Sunlost Publishing ,USA, who had provided our theme song.

Only a few form 4 directors were selected by Ms Loh Yet Kiaw to help out two of the judging teacher, Puan Zarah and Puan Noryati.The announcement for the decoration contest was designed and printed by Leo Dick Lee Wei Hao and the hand-outs were pasted by those who involved in this activity one month before the final judgement.Those who involved in this activity were summoned by Ms Loh Yet Kiaw after the recess ended.They walked into every class and found for the patriotism corner of the particular class. After further discussion, decision was made and marks were given.The teachers thanked for our help and appreciated it by giving us 5 merits marks each.

Those who are with great creativity were asked to help in this activity.When all of them were present, the O.C, Lim Ze-Young explained briefly about what are them going to do.Soh Shi Hao, who is very good in sketching, drew a rough sketch in the wall of the building. He drew a few flowers on the wall and asked about others’ opinions towards the drawing. They gave him some ideas and he immediately tried to make it a better one.After the rough sketch was done , all of them started to paint together, some were painting at the lower part and some were painting at the upper part.Their cooperation and creativity had changed the wall from a blank wall to a colorful one.After around 2 hours of hard work, the mural drawing ended with the gratitude from Principal of High School Batu Pahat.

Lions Joint Installation at Yong Peng

The Lions Installation held at Yong Peng was attended by the Lions and Leos from Batu Pahat. Our District Governor , 1^st and 2^nd Vice District Governor , Lion Datuk Danny Ooi, Lion Dato Yeow Wah Chin and Lion Dr.Ben C. Ng also attended the installation.We came early just to help out at the event. The Leos gave a hand in checking the cleanliness of the hall and stood at the entrance to welcome the attendants. During the installation, the Leos also helped taking and passing things and important items to various people. 4 of us also helped to take the “Silent Board” whenever there is a speech being delivered. We had the opportunity to meet many outstation Leos and Lions. This installation had given us the chance to know each other well and an opportunity for future collaborations. Further understanding and also teamwork are also emphasized in the speech of Lion Datuk Danny Ooi. We realized and got to know that unity and hope is needed to make sure a club is functioning well. Not forgetting the speech from Lion Datuk Dr.Ben, we knew that we have to emphasize our study instead of having to attend every activity of our club without considering about our academic.We told our member after attending the installation, making sure that they will be able to arrange their time wisely. The Lions Installation is a very good function to be attended by Leos and chances to participate are hard to come by, but nevertheless, our own Lions hoped that we would attend this important function in future years.

Cleaning Of Lions Club’s Club House

All those who participated in the cleaning gathered at the Lions Club’s Club House before 10.00 a.m.When all were present, Lion Han Pin separated all Leos into groups and were all given their own chores to do before he left to work as he trusted that we could clean the club house well even he won’t be around.Some cleaned the window paints that are dust-filled. The cobweb from the ceiling was removed, whereas the waste papers and cardboards boxes were thrown into a plastic bag especially for recyclable stuffs. The storeroom was also cleaned thoroughly. Unwanted and disposable goods in the storeroom were also thrown out. All useable items were kept and rearranged in the storeroom.The ceiling fans were also cleaned as well as the pictures hanging on the wall.The staircase leading up to the entrance of the Club House was scrubbed until it sparkled.After everything was done, we are all ordered to sweep the floor and also mop the floorAfter the floor was cleaned, we were all forbidden to walk around after we cleaned our dirty feet. The floor is not longer sticky and dusty as before.After 2 hours of hard work, the Club House looked as clean as new!

Rakan Muda Activity

On the 19th of July 2009, about 15 members from the Leo Club Of High School Batu Pahat attended a run which was held at Stadium Batu Pahat. This run was organized by the Rakan Muda Association of Batu Pahat. About 200 students from different school such as HSBP, SMKDSE, SDBL and SMK Teknik participated in the run.

All the students of High School Batu Pahat who were involved in the run gathered at the school at 7.00a.m before walking to the stadium as the stadium is located just a stone's throw away from our school.

Upon reaching the stadium, we started to line up to register. After registration, we moved to the field to have some warm up before the run in order to prevent any serious injury.

Our leos worked really hard for the run. This was proved when two of our members, Leo Tey Kak Lok and Leo Tan Wee Yew won the top five in the run. Everyone was tired after the run but we enjoyed ourselves very much.

After that, there was the opening ceremony of the Festival Batu Pahat by the Rakan Muda Association. There were also plenty of counters about uniform units which we spent some time visiting those counters.

There was also a mini car racing competiton at the festival. Everyone enjoyed watching the race very much.

At 12.00p.m, all the leos went back exhausted but happy.

The Annual Grand Meeting of HSBP Leo 2009

The Annual General Meeting was called to order by LEO Siew Liang Wei , the club president at 2.15 p.m. He thanked all the Leo directors, chairpersons and new members for attending this year’s Annual General Meeting. He expressed his concern and gratitude to the incoming directors and hoped that the new members will provide their services to the club to the fullest. As there were no amendments and changes to be made to the minutes of the previous meeting, LEO Lau Jian Hui, the club Secretary, proposed that the minutes to be passed. His proposal was seconded by LEO Tan Meng Ee, who is our Vice President. The financial report of our club was reported by club Treasurer, LEO Vincent Lim Zu Wee . There was a balance of RM 100.00 in the administration account and RM 433.00 in the project account. The Outgoing President LEO Siew Liang Wei gave his last speech as club President enlightening all of us till our Faculty Advisor, a standing ovation was given by our faculty advisor, Miss Loh Yet Kiaw. He also announced the newly elected club President, LEO Ernest Hoe. Thus, the new President then introduced the new Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2009/2010.

LEO Ernest Hoe then urged all to work hand in hand to succeed in whatever we do. The meeting was continued by speech from our Faculty Advisor, Miss Loh Yet Kiaw. She thanked Liang Wei for giving such an outstanding performance withholding our club and letting it be one of the Most Active Clubs in our school. “KUDOS to Liang Wei and the outgoing directors!” Miss Loh called out. All of the members agreed by clapping their hands. The meeting was adjourned at 3.00 p.m. with an uproar of ‘ROAR ROAR ROAR’ from the club members.

36th Multiple District 308 Leo Club Forum 2009

The 36th Multiple District 308 Leo Forum 2009 was held at George Town, Penang on the 5th - 7th of June 2009. Our club, along with the other Leo Clubs of Batu Pahat - Leo Club of Chinese High School and Leo Club of SMK Dato Syed Esa, had participated the forum.

Penang, well that's a long distance to cover from Batu Pahat. We had to start our journey at 12 am midnight and spent approximately 11 hours on the bus, finally reaching our destination - the B-Suite Hotel at about 11 am in the morning.

After resgistration and breakfast, it was time for our first activity at the forum, the Forum Special Project 'Effective Micro-organism'. We were transported to a riverside by bus and briefed about the project. After that, we were ordered to throw the prepared effective micro-organism mud balls into the river. It was explained that EM mud balls are very effective in purifying polluted rivers. The special project ended after all the EM mud balls were thrown into the river.

The next activity was the Forum Tours. Initially, we were supposed to return to our previous buses to be transported to the tour destinations. But apparently, the organizing committee failed to notify the delegates. After we got onto our bus, another group of Leos boarded our bus either due to lack of common sense or their bus were boarded by others too. Their sudden appearance caused our bus to overload. Then the organizing committee member in charge of our bus came up with a 'brilliant' idea. She decided to distribute all the forum attendance stickers she had to us and those who didn't get the stickers will be required to leave and search for another bus. Only four of us managed to acquire the sticker and the others had no choices but to leave the bus. It was then we found out that all the other buses were full. We end up waiting at the project site for another bus to arrive. Although the incident was not a pleasant one, but nevertheless, we managed to get onto a bus and visited the tour destinations.

After the tour, we were sent back to the hotel to have some rest and prepare for the fellowship night. Nothing much to cover on this part, just that we waited for a very long time before finally getting our room keys just to find out that the hotel was experiencing electricity and water supply problems. Other than that, everything else was just 'fine'. (Please let your imagination guide you when reading this paragraph.)

Later that night was the Fellowship Night held in Sunshine Hall. The theme for it was 'Super Heroes Night' and all of us have to dress up as super heroes. However, only Leo Lau Jian Hui prepared his Harry Potter costume. We had our dinner there while enjoying performances from various artists. Leo Lau Jian Hui even won the second price in the 'Best Dress Competition'. After the fellowship night ended, we returned to the hotel; hoping to have a nice sleep. But once again, our hope were crushed as the hotel was still having their 'technical' problems with the electricity and water supply.

The next day, we went through all the protocols of the opening ceremony in the Sunshine Hall. Then it was the Forum Theme Talk. The title of the talk is 'Moving Forward..Youth of the New Era' and the speaker is PDG Leong A Sam. The Public Speaking Competition followed after we had our lunch. The contestants are all very talented, they have no difficulty speaking in front of the crowd. After that, the Sub-District Forum took place where we managed to get some awards. Night time...The banquet...This is the most exciting part of the whole forum. This when the TOP award will be given out. We were all very nervous when the Master of Ceremony was announcing the awards. Fortunately, our club was managed to get all the TOP awards, thus maintaining the achievements of our seniors. Didn't have much to type about the last day. After we finished our breakfast, our incoming key officers went for the School for Incoming Leo Key Officers. Then it was the Closing Ceremony. After the closing ceremony, we set on our journey back to Batu Pahat.
